Daytime Curfews

story of my life;
joining forces with guys who
want to own people.

chattel property --
constitutionalists --
common law slavers.

manacled women
and children owned by petty
tyrants, not the state.

freedom's siren song
rings in berkeley's daughter's ears.
once heard, remembered.

whatever happened
to "free minds, free bodies, free
dope, and free music?

the day is on its
way and the day is here now?"
utopian dreams live.

our babes will wander
naked through the cities of
the universe? yes.

freedom is precious.
too precious to trade for il-
lusions of safety.

"i stood without clothes
danced in the sand
i was aching with freedom
kissing the damned
i said remember
this is how it should be."

amy rae

some want to be free.
others want to be free to
enslave their own slaves.

the double-edged sword
of freedom and anarchy --
the freedom to rule

and deprive others
of their freedom. Eternal
vigilance, eh what?
