Malcolm's Bohus Sweater

This is another sweater inspired by the wonderful designs in Priscilla Gibson-Roberts' Knitting in the Old Way. It's a bohus sweater with a round yoke and colorwork in the yoke. The main yarn is Knitpicks Wool of the Andes Maple Syrup with the yoke details in various colors of Brown Sheep Lamb's Pride worsted. It was knit on size 7 needles in the round from the top down.

While knitting this sweater, I developed the ability to knit with three colors at once -- one in my left hand and two in my right. The yoke increases are very cleverly hidden in plain, one-color rows.

The first time I knit the yoke, my son disliked the large amount of gold in the yoke, so I ripped it back and re-worked the yoke with the current color scheme. The earlier color scheme was more autumnal and I loved it, but he likes these colors better, and so will actually wear the sweater.

This was a fun sweater to knit. It went very fast, and had the great bonus of the yoke detail to work again backwards on the sleeves. This helped keep me interested while knitting the sleeves, which is ordinarily a part of the process that bores me stiff.
