The Knitfits Mailing List(Last modified 25 July 2006) This page contains information on the following:
Knitfits is an on-topic forum for knitters who want the things we knit to fit the real human bodies of ourselves, our friends, and our families. The focus of the list is fitting: choosing designs to fit and flatter our bodies, modifying patterns so they fit better, sharing shaping techniques that work on real bodies, and designing garments that fit well and look good. We welcome discussion of your current experiments with fitting, and about your past and current projects and what they taught you about fitting. We love to see photos of successful and unsuccessful fitting projects, so feel free to upload your pictures and share a link to them. Any aspect of knitting that is directly related to fitting is fair game. Color, stitch patterns, and yarn choice are on topic if you discuss them in the context of fit. Any aspect of knitting that is not directly related to fitting knits on the human body is off-topic. We're not here to discuss knitting tea cozies, dog beds, or charity afghans. We're not here to talk over every cool yarn sale or new knitting magazine that comes out. We're also human. If the vast majority of your posts stick to the topic of fitting, you can include the odd paragraph about something that's off-topic. The Knitfits list is a private, non-commercial forum for knitters. The list administrator hosts Knitfits on her own system. You will not see any ads tagged onto Knitfits messages or included in the digest. To send a message to all of the subscribers on Knitfits, send email to (knitfits@twobar.com). The list only accepts posts from addresses subscribed to the Knitfits list or one of its digest options. If you wish to post from an address other than your normal subscription address, contact the Knitfits moderators. All posts to the Knitfits list should be on-topic. If you have questions as to the suitability of your post, please contact the Knitfits moderators for clarification. To subscribe to the Knitfits mailing list, send email to knitfits-request@twobar.com with "subscribe" in the subject line of the message. You can also subscribe via the Knitfits list web page. If you want your Knitfits messages in digest form, you can subscribe to the Kfdigest list. The Kfdigest is sorted by subject so you can easily read or ignore particular topics. Individual subjects are introduced by a headline banner so that you can find them more easily. The digest comes with a table of contents that reference articles by number so you can read just those topics and authors you find interesting. When you subscribed to Knitfits, you received an email that included your list password and a link to your Knitfits or Kfdigest options page. Those two things are all you need to manage your Knitfits or Kfdigest subscription. If you saved that email, you can change your subscription options at any time by clicking on that link and entering your password. On your Knitfits options page you can:
If you didn't save the email, fear not! Mailman helpfully sends out password reminders once a month. Save the next one that hits your in-box, and you're in business. You can also access your Knitfits or Kfdigest options page from the main Knitfits list web page or Kfdigest list web page. Scroll down to the bottom, enter your email address, and click "Unsubscribe or edit options." At that point, you can have your password mailed to you or enter it and access your options page. The Knitfits list web page also allows you to access the list archives or to visit the subscribers list. Addresses on the subscribers list are slightly changed to thwart spam harvesters, but the email addresses are recognizable to human eyes. If you have any questions, feel free to ask the Knitfits moderators.
The Knitfits list is tightly focused, and the Knitfits moderators are prepared to use Mailman's moderation capabilities as necessary to keep the discussion civil and on-topic. New posters will be moderated until the Knitfits moderators get to know them. Please note that the authors of the articles posted to Knitfits hold the original copyrights on their submissions. Do not reproduce or redistribute Knitfits posts without the permission of the authors. Your list host is Heather Madrone (heather@madrone.com). Send comments about the Knitfits list to the Knitfits moderators. Thanks for having the vision and commitment to see that larger knitters needed something special to knit garments that fit well and look good. Thanks for all of your hard work in making the ample-knitters list and web site an oasis of good sense and good fashion. Shelda still keeps the ample-knitters site going. It's a great resource and inspiration for ample knitters everywhere:
